LARGE WHALE IVORY BODKIN with MONKEY FIST TOP, Mid-19th

InformationWHALE IVORY BODKIN WITH MONKEY FIST TOP American, Mid-19th Century The bodkinn is beautifully carved and Inlaid. The top of the bodkin has a monkey fist head knot. Tapered shaft has incised rings flanking a band of geometric tourtoise shell inlay. Condition The bodkin has a deep mellow patina with a few minor age cracks. Dimension: Length 5 1/4 inches Provenance: John Rinaldi, Kennebunkport, Maine, Catalog 27, 1994, Lot #63. The Collection of Paul Vardeman." Exhibited at the Cahoon Museum Scrimshaw Exhibition titled “Scrimshaw the Whaler’s Art” June 29 - October 30, 2022.
