Whalebone, Steel and Brass Whalemen's Dagger probably American last quarter 19th Century. The knife has a rounded brass butt end with a pair of whalebone sections with the upper one engraved with the initials "G.S,A,". Separating these whalebone sections is a fluted brass
disc. The cross piece is made of brass and has scribed discs at opposite ends. The blade has a center raised line and the blade tapers down from the high point to the edge on opposite sides of the line. (KN0061)
Condition: There are a few tiny nicks along the blades edges and otherwise excellent. The dagger has a fine mellow patina.
