Hawks Nest Model Boat Table
InformationExtremely rare pine full hull hawk's nest style model, American, circa 1840. The hull is constructed in the same manner as a sailing craft. There are ten sets of ribs, all but one of which has a pair of sistered ribs. The ribs fasten to the keel and stem and are fastened to planks above. The starboard side has three planks near the deck and eight planks above the keel with an open space between while the port side has two planks above and only three planks below. The hull is set into a contemporary mahogany base. The base has an 'I' shape with four turned legs. A custom made piece of glass 3/4 of an inch thick with an ogee edge sits on top of the legs. Condition: The hull has a few old worm holes and a nice age patina.
