Large Carved and Painted Sailor Whirligig

InformationBlue and white painted large sailor whirligig,American, circa 1920. The sailor has a painted face with mustache. He is wearing a blue painted jacket with white painted bell bottom pants. He is wearing a round blue and white sailors hat and black boots. His arms are out straight and he is holding a paddle at both ends.. The whirligig is mounted on a modern rectangular black painted base with metal shaft. The item was found on Cape Cod with a collection of five similar whirligigs. (FA1055) Condition: The carving has a mellow age patina which is original and unrestored. The paddles have been replaced.. Dimension of whirligig: Height 14 3/4 inches, Width 8 1/2 inches. Base Dimensions: Width 6 inches, Depth 4 inches.
