Scrimshaw whales tooth depicting 1st Rate British 120 Gun Navel Vessel on the obverse. The ship has the stern facing the viewer and it angles away from the viewer showing the 3 rows of cannon. The spars and rigging are highly detailed as are the stern and 1/4 galleries. The ship is flying the English flag from the gaff. The reverse and a beautifully rendered portrait of a standing woman in a formal dress and fancy bonnet. There is some red color embelishment in her belt and bonnet. Their are a narrowly spaced pair of lines going around the tip with engraved stars between the lines. (SC1184)
Condition: The tooth has a mellow age patina and there is an old small chip to the tip on the obverse.
