InformationFine eight inch Nantucket Lightship Basket, signed and dated on the bottom of the base “Hose Formosa Reyes 1970” and includes a map of Nantucket. The basket has an ivory top, knobs and closure latch with fid. Mounted to the top of the basket is a rectangular ivory plaque with a well detailed pointing dog with collar. Mounted to the inside of the top is an ivory plaque with the original owners name and hometowns: “Barbara F. Heller, Nantucket, Mass, Sanibel Florida". The ivory is signed by the carver “Carved by Charles F. Sayle”.
Condition: The basket is in excellent condition and has a warm deep patina. All of the whale ivory parts are also original and in excellent condition with a warm mellow patina.
