A Sailor-Made and Patriotically-Inlaid Walnut Dressing Box, Massachusetts, Mid-19th Century
The lid inlaid with American flags, stars, rising sun and potted urns enclosing a coat-of-arms; the box front inlaid with the initials, "C.R.A", and a mother-of-pearl inlaid escutcheon; two sides inlaid with ships at sea and buildings on shore; the interior fitted with a folding mirror. (FA1163)
