Quarter Plate Daguerreotype of a Man and Woman, pictured seated with the man's arm around her. Gilt accented jewelry. Embossed velvet case interior with "Brady's Gallery 359 Broadway New York". The date 1858 appears on the velvet on the left side of the case. The image is well composed and is very crisp and sharp deserving the reputation of Mathew Brady probable the most famous of all American daguerreotypist. The dag has its original push button case opener with fancy star pattern that matches on both sides. The top borders of the case have gilt pattern that runs around the borders. (PH0463)

Note: Mathew B. Brady was an American photographer. Known as one of the earliest and most famous photographers in American history, he is best known for his scenes of the Civil War. He studied under inventor Samuel Morse, who pioneered the daguerreotype technique in America.
