Turkish Twist Damascus Titanium and Fine Silver Button Knife by Arthur Soppera
InformationTurkish Twist Damascus Titanium and Fine Silver Button Knife by Arthur Soppera
Arthur Soppera, the revered Swiss knifemaker, seamlessly transitioned from three decades as a high-end jeweler to creating some of the most artistic and precise custom knives available. His background in crafting exquisite gold pieces is evident in every detail, from his innovative, smooth Button-Lock system to his choice of opulent materials like abalone, sterling silver, and rare Damascus steel. Soppera’s “one-of-a-kind” folders and fixed blades are not merely tools, but true works of art, blending flawless engineering with a jeweler’s eye for beauty, making each a treasured possession for the discerning collector. I am a Swiss knifemaker from Zurich, where I was born and bred. Before I took up knifemaking in 1985, I worked as a jeweler for about 30 years, creating high-class jewelry, (we use at least 18 ct. gold over here).
But then I soon started making folders, inventing a system of my own, then another, better one, a Button-Lock system (Pat.Pend.), which is very easy-going and double-locking and takes up so little space within the handle that I can give my folders any shape I like. So some of them are rather fancy, but others are of course made to be carried in your pocket. Of course all my fancy folders are one-of-a-kinds. I still create jewelry from time to time, including some knife jewelry, especially necklaces with integrated knives, these, too, are unique. Occasionally I do produce a sheath knife, too - dagger or fighter.
I am a member of the Knifemakers Guild, of the German and the Italian Guilds and of the Swiss "Form Forum", a member organization of the International Craft Council.
