InformationEXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND EARLY AMERICAN STERN BOARD EAGLE, circa 1790. This large and elaborately carved pine piece features an American eagle at the center with his head turned with well defined talons, one of which is clutching a cannon ball. The wing span of the eagle alone is 46 inches. Below and to the left and right of the eagle are elaborately carved and pieced foliage. With the exception of a few minor losses, this carving is complete. The finish is in natural wood with slight traces of the original cesso and gilt finish. (FA-17) Dimension: 8 feet.
