Extremely long thick and heavy whale bone fid, American 19th Century. The fid is very thick at the butt end and gently tapers to a tip at the opposite side. The bone is very dense and has an attractive grain or surface.
Condition: The fid has scattered surface age cracks which add to the mellow patina of the piece. There is a slight tiny loss at one side of the tip. (SC1264)
