Carved mahogany sailor made table, American, circa 1860. The top is made of three pieces of mahogany with an oval shape. The edge of the table is scalloped and the border of the table has an elaborate carved pierced decoration. Supporting the top are four pierced carved vertical members set at 90 degrees from each other depicting the Seal of America featuring an American Indian standing by the side of a tree holding a bow and having a feathered headdress and a leaf-like carved skirt. In between each of the Indian carvings are additional carvings which are pierced carved in the form of cornucopias. These forms scroll out and support the original casters. (F-349) Condition: The table is in excellent condition. The glued contacts have been reglued where the pieces have come loose. The table appears to have its original surface which has been lightened and cleaned.
