Walnut veneer Davenport desk, English, circa 1860. The desk has a typical Davenport form. The entire desk with the exception of the carved knees (which are solid walnut) is grained walnut veneer. The desk retains its original lock. When the lock is open, the rear gallery automatically unlatches and flips back exposing a variety of fitted compartments and the original inkwell. The right hand side of the desk has four active drawers and the opposite side has four false drawer fronts. (F-357)
