Carved and gilded pine weathervane in the form of a salmon, American, circa 1890. The weathervane has exceptional form. The head, body and tail are beautifully articulated. The body has deeply incised carved scales. The applied fins have horizontal curved fluting. Slightly forward of the center is a vertical hole which the weathervane rod passes through. (FA-760)
Condition: The weathervane is in excellent condition. There is a repair to the center fin on the left-hand side. The weathervane retains its wonderful gold leaf surface and has a wonderful age patina.
