BRASS-BOUND LIFT-TOP TOOL CHEST WITH MARQUETRY-INLAID INTERIOR
The chest is American last quarter 19th century. The exterior of the chest has the original gray paint. The chest retains its original brass corners and side mounted carrying handles. The interior with mahogany, rosewood and maple marquetry inlay has burlwood panel inlaid on interior of lid. Lid attached with iron hinges. One side of interior has five sliding drawers; the other with lift-top compartment. Brass casters are applied to bottom of the chest. The inlay on the lid as well as the inlay of the sliding-lift-out compartments are exceptional. The chest still has a number of tools of various types in the interior.
Condition: The chest is in excellent condtion. It retains all its original surfaces.
