8 gauge Brown signal cannon, Connecticut, circa 1890. The cannon has a 12 1/2 inch heavy brass barrel. The breech rotates counter clockwise by lifting a bronze knob mounted to the side of the breech. Mounted to the rear of the breech is a standard Brown plunger activated firing pin and pulley. The bottom of the barrel at the rear has the standard ring shape shell ejector. The cannon retains its original mahogany yacht carriage with front mounted lignum vitae wheels. The carriage retains its original brass trunnion caps, through bolts, side and rear tie-downs, elevator mechanism, rear cord pulley, wheel washers, wheel covers and axle pins. (I-642)
Condition: The cannon is very well preserved and is complete and working except it is lacking its pull cord. The cannon has a deep warm patina to both the barrel and carriage.
